For a "healthy mind in a healthy body".
Good mental health is linked to positive thoughts and feelings about ourselves as people and about our abilities. The mind has a direct or indirect relationship with the body. So as we "feed" our mental health well with positive emotions, proper thoughts etc., our physical health will be better.
Pressure situations in our life generate responses from our body in forms of stress, depression, anxiety, anger, among others, which can cause varied physical problems that give rise to so-called psychosomatic illnesses (of the term psyche=mente and soma=body), i.e. physical disorders caused by psychological and social disorders.
Performing a physical activity will promote your well-being and mental health, improving mood and sleep and decreasing anxiety and stress.
Cycling increases your state of happiness, strengthens your self-esteem and confidence; improves your creative and cognitive skills, decreases levels of stress and anxiety by strengthening the immune system and preventing the manifestation of different diseases.
Since this wonderful sport can clearly contribute to improving physical and mental condition, it should be a social and political task to promote the conditions that will enable the development of physical exercise and learning programs such as RIDE SMARTER® for the whole population, with special emphasis on children and the elderly, so that in the medium term we can make the effect of physical activity on the mind allow the development of the much desired "healthy mind in a healthy body".
